Amouddou’s Story
My name is Youssef,
I grew up in a small village called Imsouane and come from a family of fishermen, a traditional Berber heritage. My ancestors have been honoring and living from this land for generations – as it is destined for me.
In truth, I was born from the sea. I hear it whispering into my ears, calling me home everyday. With the waves in my veins I picked up my surfboard and started my life’s journey.
My uncle Ayoub was one of the first and best surfers of Imsouane, an inspiration to all of us. Through him, I learned what it meant to truthfully listen and follow the heartbeat of the earth. Taking part in the rhythm for myself.
“Amouddou” – meaning “Journey” in Tamazight, the official language of the Amazigh folk, known as the Berber people – was founded to honor the true Spirit of Morocco’s indigenous inhabitants.
It’s about speading awareness and empowerment in a country so rich in cultural and ethnical diversities.
I hope to take you with me on this journey – The Journey of Surfing.

Vision: Dreaming in Morocco is hard, we grow up with less freedom and little opportunities. I have met many kind people, who helped me along my surfing journey. I hope I will get the chance to travel and surf in more countries than my own – surfing longboard competitions and someday help people who are walking the same path.
