Choose Equipment
Hardtop
Torq Hardtop Surfboards are strong, lightweight boards that are easy to use and built to last. They’re made with a tough epoxy construction, so they don’t break (ding) as easily as traditional fiberglass boards.
The 3-fin setup helps with balance and control, making it easier to paddle, stand up, and turn. Compared to classic longboards (logs), Torq hardtops feel lighter, more stable, and more forgiving — great for learning and improving.
These boards are ideal for beginners and early intermediate surfers who want a fun, reliable board that makes catching waves easier.

Traditional Classic Logs
Logs are traditional long surfboards made for smooth, stylish surfing. They offer great glide and flow, especially in clean waves. Boards with multiple fins add more performance and easier turning, while single-fin logs focus on balance and classic surf style.
Compared to hardtop boards, traditional logs are more fragile and can ding more easily, but they reward good technique and feel more natural on the wave. Our log quiver features single-fin longboards, best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers who know how to handle a more sensitive board.

Wetsuit
Morocco’s Atlantic coast stays cool year-round, so a wetsuit is usually a good idea. Conditions can change depending on wind, clouds, swell, and the time of day — early morning and sunset sessions often feel colder.
In warmer months, most surfers are comfortable in a shortie or a light full wetsuit (2/3mm). During the cooler season, a full wetsuit (2/3mm or 3/4mm) is recommended, with boots for longer sessions or colder days. If you tend to get cold easily, going a bit warmer is always the safer choice.

Read our most frequent questions:
Can I only book an add-on without any surf lesson?
Yes! Check out our longboard rental page for more information about the surf equipment. You can book all of our add-ons via the booking form down below!
How do I pay for the lessons and add-ons?
The easiest and universal way to pay is in cash (Dirham, Morocco’s currency). We’re currently working on an online payment process. In some cases, you might be able to pay via paypal or similar transfers.
Do I need a wetsuit/ how cold does the water get?
Morocco is located along the Atlantic Ocean:
December – May the ø water temperature is ~ 17/18ºC.
June – November the ø water temperature is ~ 18-20ºC.
Depending on yourself, the daytime and the specific swell, it might feel colder/warmer. Imsouane can get windier and cloudier in the off-season (June – Nov.), so there will also be some colder days. Keep in mind, if you’re a sunrise/sunset surfer you came to right place, but you might need an even warmer wetsuit!
We’d suggest a bathing suit, shortie (2mm) and full wetsuit (2/3mm) in the warmer months – full wetsuits (2/3, 3/4mm) and boots for long/early/late sessions in the colder months.
What is the best time to visit Imsouane?
Imsouane has waves nearly all year round. While summer can bring flatter swells, the rest of the year often delivers some of the most reliable and playful conditions in Morocco.
Beginners can get lucky no matter when. The most consistent swell can be found from September – March (main season), which might be the best time for intermediate surfers, who want to level up their game and professionals who hope to find some really big waves.
How to get to Imsouane?
The closest airports are Essaouira (2 hours), Agadir (2 hours) and Marrakech (4 hours).
You can rent your own car or find a taxi at the airport (for ~400-600 Dirham/Taxi). Many people roadtrip along the coastline and set up camp in the best places, straight at the beachside!
If you’re already in the country you could look up the “souk-to-surf” shuttle for an easy ride.
How big do the waves get?
In the off-season (summer months) there can be some flatter days with waves up to 1 meter/ 3 feet.
The main season (winter months) is consistently blessed with perfect 1-1,5 meter / 3-5 feet waves! It can get quite big up to 4 meters / 12 feet, which means in the Bay it’s “just” a huge and fast amount of water moving, cause most waves stay mellow. Cathedral on the other hand can get pretty steep and hollow, quite nerve wrecking!
Can I surf as a beginner/intermediate, even if there is a bigger swell arriving?
That’s the beauty of Imsouane: YES. The Bay can be sectioned into different areas. There’s always whitewater for the beginners, while the professionals can surf at the peak. Intermediate surfers can find their perfect wave everywhere in between. But be aware, once the bigger swells hit, the current can get pretty strong. If you don’t have enough paddle power, you might end up straight on the beach again.
Are there any tidal changes?
Yes, low and high tide are about six hours apart. Surfing the Bay is best around low tide, surfing Cathedral is best around high tide. The perfect match!
Our surf-lessons are always planned in rhythm with the tides and other weather conditions.
What else is there to do on flat or rest days?
Morocco is full of magic and culture! You can drive 2 hours up the coastline for a trip to Essaouira and discover the old-town with its’ cute restaurants and alleys – or 1,5 hours down the coastline to walk through the streets of Taghazout and watch sunset at the iconic skatepark. You can try out surfskating yourself in Imsouane or stop in nearby places for a quad-venture or horse-riding tour. If you want a really unique experience you should try out Hammam & Massage to relax those muscles! At Amouddou Surf we’re always happy to organize a trip for you, don’t hesitate to ask!
Are there sharks or other dangers in Imsouane?
You can take a deep breath of relief – nope there’s no sharks around here. If you don’t watch out, there might be some famous surfer-dogs stealing your wave, though.
